We are advertising the following position for the project EU Support to Strengthen the Fight against Migrant Smuggling and Trafficking in Human Beings in the Western Balkans (EU4FAST), Italian Ministry of Interior (IT MoI) (hereinafter, Project).

  

Communication Specialist (m/f)

The Candidate will operate under the overall guidance of the Project Manager and direct supervision of the Team Leader. The candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the Project’s communication strategy and activities, ensuring effective internal and external communication and visibility in line with EU4FAST standards and guidelines. The role includes close collaboration with the Communication Officer and other Project staff, as well as liaison with stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be tasked with the following duties:

  • Co-write and edit Annual and Quarterly Reports for submission to the Project Coordinator.
  • Produce and disseminate user-friendly versions of reports and communication products (factsheets, articles, emails) and multimedia content for various audiences.
  • Research, fact-check, edit, and produce high-quality communication materials, ensuring compliance with project standards.
  • Draft talking points, briefs, factsheets, speeches, and other materials for the Project Manager and Team Leader.
  • Ensure all communication materials are copy-edited and proofread to the highest standards, with attention to grammar, style, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Manage and update EU4FAST IT MoI Teams, SharePoint, and other digital platforms.
  • Contribute to high-quality multimedia and digital content for dissemination.
  • Monitor media coverage and prepare regular reports on communication activities, outreach, and impact.
  • Ensure EU4FAST branding and style are consistently applied across all materials.
  • Support the organization and coverage of events, workshops, and campaigns, including preparation of communication materials and media engagement.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to gather information, success stories, and project updates for communication purposes.
  • Provide guidance and support to project staff on communication and visibility requirements.

Necessary Qualifications, Competencies and Experience

  • University degree in communications, journalism, public relations, social/political sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant work experience in communication, public relations, or media, preferably in an international or multicultural environment.
  • Proven experience in managing social media platforms and digital communication tools.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills in English and local language; knowledge of Italian is an asset.
  • Experience in content creation (text, images, video) and graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) are an advantage.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and creative approach.
  • Digital literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the Internet.
  • Knowledge of EU policies and institutions, and experience with EU-funded projects is an asset.

Eligibility Requirements

  • No criminal convictions and no measures concerning the application of preventive measures, civil decisions, and administrative measures registered in the criminal record or for any crime which determines the inability to contract with the Public Administration.
  • Not subjected to criminal proceedings.
  • Have the requirement of independence and no condition of incompatibility or conflict of interest (financial, business, work, or other relations) with the Italian Ministry of Interior.

This position is open to citizens and permanent residents of Bosnia and Herzegovina only.

NOTE: Please note that this position is funded under a European-Budgetary Project, which runs until 31 May 2027, conditioned upon the availability of funds. An extension of the project until 31 December 2028 may be possible, depending on funding availability and project requirements.

Should you be selected for the position, you will be based in the Italian Project Office in Sarajevo, and you would work under the EU4FAST Project “EU Support to Strengthen the Fight against Migrant Smuggling and Trafficking in Human Beings in the Western Balkans (IPAIII/2023/442-774), Italian Ministry of Interior (IT MoI)”.
